There’s a blue flower truck
in the car park outside the hospital.
I can’t see why it’s there
because I’m lying in bed.
They’re calling his number plate over the P.A.;
He has parked illegally.

I can imagine …
He’s carrying his flowers
to a woman with a baby just born,
a smile curving on her face.
I wonder if he cares
that they’re towing his truck away.
Could he get it the next day?

Somebody called Hugh Adamson
has parked his truck in a red zone.
He has flowers for an old woman,
her husband passed, her kids don’t care
she’s very sad, her room feels very sad,
his flowers are there and she stares and says
‘It’s very sad, yeah, yeah it’s very sad.’

Maybe he’s only parked there
because he wants a coffee.
Maybe there wasn’t anywhere else.
Someone’s parked a flower truck
outside my hospital room.
I don’t know who he is. I’m waiting
for my door to open. I like flowers.

So attempt two at mimicking this poem, The Nocturne in the Corner Phonebox.
It's down the bottom there, if you care to read.
For those who have read it: As you can see, I used heaps of ideas from the poem. As I assumed we were supposed to in mimicking it.
For those who didn't: Awesomesauce. I came up with all the ideas myself, i.e. I'm awesome. xD. No seriously, read it.

Someone is playing a trombone
in the telephone box outside my room.
It’s 1 a.m.
and he’s removed the globe.
He’s playing a melancholy cadenza
probably over the S.T.D.
to his girl in Sydney.

I can imagine …
she’s curled to the telephone
listening to that impossible music
a smile curving on her face.
I wonder if he has enough change
for those extensions.
Could he reverse the charge?

Somebody called Hugh Adamson
blares out a nocturne in a phonebox.
His father’s old and dying,
his mother’s dead, his girl’s away,
he’s very sad, his nocturne’s very sad,
his trombone blares and flares and says
‘He’s very sad, yair yair, he’s very sad.’

Maybe he’s only playing to a friend
in East St Kilda.
Maybe he hasn’t any change.
Someone is playing a trombone-impossible-
in the phonebox with the door shut.
I’ve no idea who he is. I’m waiting
for my phone to ring. I like this music

I like this. Follows the thought process and the imagination's ability to create situations.

I like your poem a lot. The other poem just has fancy language and some cool images over yours, so you did a pretty cool job. :)

You did kinda confuse me with the "van/truck" switch in this. But that's all.

Aw this one is one of my favourites. The idea was the other person's, but I like your "situation" better. :) Only think I would change is keep calling it a "truck" the whole time otherwise it gets confusing. :P

I'm thinking that's the point of the original poem, I hope. :)

Yeah, I didn't realise I'd done that. >.<
I stopped halfway through writing it, and started again with van. But I'll fix than when I go home.
